Dreams Can Last Forever

One night I had a dream
And in it was you
We walked around with the biggest smiles
Hand in hand, our fingers knitted together
Resembling shoelaces of a 5 year-old's sneakers
We skipped through the park
We watched the sunset over a field
I had my arms wrapped around you
Like a seatbelt for life
Protecting you from all the evil that abounds
While letting you know that I wont be easy to get rid of
And you didn't smile
You just stared
Stared straight ahead into the coming of night
But deep within your eyes there was a wanting
A wanting to never leave this spot
A wanting to keep this moment for eternity
Lucky for you this was a dream...

Romance, Arsenic, and Other Such Things

I could stay awake the entire night,

And tell you how wonderful you are.

Fill your head with thousands of ideas,

Cliches, and metaphors which might run dry.

I could tell you of the beauty in your eyes,

Like a whirlpool sucking in my thoughts.

Or that wonderful smile that makes the sun rise,

Even if you only show it for a second.

I could write you thousands of notes,

Each one describing a fraction of emotion,

The I have felt since I met you.

A smooth symphony of words,

Brings to life your imagination.

Detailing every little nuance,

While breathing through my pen.

And the photographs I would write,

Would forever be remembered.

I could give you a thousand reasons,

Why there is nobody better than I.

Why others don’t compare,

To what I have to offer.

I could dress myself in my ego,

And take you out to a ballroom dance.

But once the clock strikes 12,

It’s as if it never began.

Out of all of things I could tell you,

None other will compare.

To the thousands of my faults,

All of my dirty little secrets.

These are what is truly me,

And nothing else would be just.

So as the sun rises I’ll keep on sharing,

Because these imperfections make you want to know more.

The waiting game

I’ll tell you a story

And you’ll listen with wide eyes

As I paint on your imagination

So you can see the canvas of my life

And after every story

You hang that piece of art somewhere in your mind

With enough to fill a museum

To go enjoy another time

As the hours tick away

We slowly start to see something

Examining with uncertainty

Because this we’ve never seen

We laugh as we stare into each other’s minds

And get ready for another day

New obstacles that might come

And the one’s that always stay

And we dance around each other ever so elegantly
Wishing for something,
Wanting nothing,
Hoping for anything,
Waiting for everything

-Just like the movies-

It’s the opening scene and your heart is racing.

Pounding to the beat of the prelude.

You stare in awe as the screen cuts to black.

Begging from more, the desire for explanation.

Force-fed clichés choke the imagination.

Predictable as usual is tonight’s choice of entertainment.

Throw in a nice pun or a clever phrase for originality.

Next thing you know the problems solved.

We pick up and move on, waiting for the next intriguing plot.

But next week you won’t find me in front of that screen.

I’ll be out creating my own story, with my own twists.

And one day, you’ll be watching me on that beautiful screen.

"Oxymoron"

Oxymoron

1) A literary device that uses contradiction to give enhanced meaning or humor

2) How to describe life

3) Root words in Greek meaning “sharp” and “dull”

So let’s take a look at life.

Death gives meaning to life.

True love disregards emotions.

Those who are always with people want to be alone,

Those who are always alone want to be with other people.

Every person is unique.

Throughout history there have been wars for peace

People with power let it control them.

People observe religious holidays when they don’t believe in God.

Failure is the only way to be successful.

The unknown is the most terrifying.

People only get in your way when you’re late.

Without light there is no darkness.

There is an exception to every rule, except this one.
